Upper Antelope Canyon is the most visited and photographed slot canyon in the Southwest. It’s unique because the entrance is at ground level, meaning there’s no climbing required, making it accessible for most visitors. The canyon is known for its smooth, wave-like sandstone walls and dramatic light beams that shine through narrow openings above (especially midday). Because of its beauty and accessibility, it is also the most crowded and requires advance booking through authorized Navajo tour operators. Tours are guided only due to tribal land regulations and safety concerns like flash flooding.
